What an AC not cooling call involves
We start at the thermostat and work outward, because the fix is sometimes a setting and sometimes a failed part. We check the indoor blower and the airflow through the return, then move to the outdoor unit to see whether the compressor and fan are actually running. Refrigerant pressures, capacitor condition and electrical connections get tested with meters, not guesses. Age, condition and what failed all matter. A capacitor or contactor on a healthy ten-year-old heat pump is a straightforward air conditioner repair and worth doing. A leaking coil on a system that has already lost refrigerant twice is a different conversation, and we will say so instead of selling you another patch. We look at duct condition and airflow too, because a system that never cooled well from day one may have a sizing or duct problem no part swap will fix.

Why is my AC running constantly but not cooling?
Usually low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty condenser coil, or a failing compressor. The system runs and runs because it cannot remove enough heat. Keep the filter clean and call us for a diagnosis.
My outdoor unit has ice on it. Should I turn it off?
Yes. Switch the system to off and leave the fan on to thaw the coil. Ice usually means restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Change the filter, then call us before running it in cooling again.
The indoor fan blows but the outdoor unit is silent. What is wrong?
Often a tripped breaker, a failed capacitor, or a bad contactor. You can safely check the breaker once. If it trips again or the unit stays quiet, stop there and let us test the electrical parts.
