What an AC replacement job involves
We start with a load calculation for your house, not a guess based on the old nameplate. Plenty of systems we pull out were oversized to begin with, which is why the house felt clammy. From there we recover refrigerant properly, disconnect the old equipment, set the new outdoor unit on a level pad, and tie in the indoor coil or air handler. Line sets get evaluated, the system gets evacuated and charged, and we check airflow at the registers before we leave.
What we check and install
Ductwork gets inspected, because new equipment on leaky ducts in a hot attic still leaves back bedrooms warm. We look at the return size, the filter slot, the electrical disconnect and breaker, the drain line and pan, and the thermostat wiring. On heat pump homes with sandy soil, we check that the pad has not settled and that the outdoor unit sits clear of sprinkler spray from well water, which scales up coils fast across the region.

Do I have to replace the indoor unit too?
Usually yes. The outdoor unit and indoor coil are matched to work together, and mixing old and new parts often means poor performance and short equipment life. We will tell you plainly what your system needs.
How long does an AC replacement take?
Most straightforward changeouts are a one day job. If ductwork needs repair, the electrical needs work, or we are converting the system type, plan on two days and we will say so up front.
Can I just keep paying for air conditioner repair instead?
